Akash Bhatia is Published in IMHCA Newsletter

June 24, 2020 by ITA Staff

Headshot of Akash smilingWe are excited to announce that Akash Bhatia, ITA Music Therapist, was published in the IMHCA Summer Newsletter! Bhatia discusses the challenges of connecting to clients through teletherapy, especially during creative arts therapy sessions when clients and therapists alike are used to accessing instruments, art supplies, and other materials during sessions. Teletherapy sessions have looked different from in-person sessions, but therapists and clients have found new ways to connect including using materials they have at home, various apps and technologies, and bringing in caregivers to the sessions.

You can read his article, “Miles Between Us: The Therapeutic Relationship on Screen” on page 10.

Congratulations. Happy for your achievements. I strongly believe that music therapy can heal like no other. It is certainly like in-person sessions, but online sessions also work fine. At least you can reach out to people who have developmental disabilities during this crisis period. It is not easy to cope with a crisis without help.
