Art Therapist
Alynn McCormick is a Licensed Professional Counselor and trained art therapist who earned her Master’s in Art Therapy and Counseling from the School of the Art Institute of Chicago. Within a trauma-informed, relational framework, Alynn’s work with youth and their families utilizes a non-judgmental, systemic approach and prioritizes needs and strengths while working to foster healing and growth. In this context, art making is used to generate connection, promote reflection and personal expression, process trauma, and facilitate interpersonal communication. Alynn has experience practicing in a wide range of youth service settings and is particularly passionate about supporting young people who are navigating anxiety, depression, emotional dysregulation, adjustment difficulties, attachment needs, and histories of trauma. Alynn believes that meaningful, impactful therapeutic services are culturally responsive and anchored in social justice.
