Anti-Oppressive Frameworks for Creative Arts Therapists

As healthcare workers, creative arts therapists have a responsibility to understand the context for systemic oppression in the United States and how oppression harms the people we serve. This presentation will conceptualize oppression using the frameworks of colonization and the medical industrial complex. During this presentation, participants will define oppression, identify sociocultural contexts for an anti-oppressive practice in the creative arts therapies, and discuss strategies for providing anti-oppressive care within the creative arts therapies.

Recorded on: Wednesday, August 11, 2021
