ITA Internship Focuses on Training in Music Therapy
Did you know ITA has had a music therapy internship for over 10 years? ITA is proud to train up to four music therapy students each year from Universities and Colleges from all over the United States. Many of our interns have gone on to get their master’s degree, gone into private practice, are supervising interns of their own, and practice in other countries.
One of our 2014 alumna, Kaillie Enser, had this to say about her internship experience: “I am thankful every day that I chose to do my internship at ITA. My supervisors provided me with constant support, while challenging me to reach my highest potential. Because ITA offers all creative arts modalities and works in multiple settings, I had many unique experiences. I co-treated with drama therapy, art therapy, occupational therapy and speech therapy throughout my internship, which are opportunities than many other interns do not have. This has allowed me to better collaborate and communicate with individuals in these fields and other related fields as a professional. As an intern there, I was offered the opportunity to develop my musical and clinical skills in a variety of settings with a variety of populations. As a result, I learned that I was well-suited for an area of practice that I had not yet considered. When I was interviewing for music therapy positions, employers often noted that the breadth of my experience in internship set me apart from other candidates.”
