ITA Hosting 4 Creative Arts Therapy Webinars
This summer and fall, ITA therapists will be presenting a series of webinars! The presentations are geared toward creative arts therapists and mental health professionals who want to incorporate elements of art, music, drama, or dance/movement therapy into their clinical practice. Each webinar focuses on a specific modality of creative arts therapy, led by one of our staff members.
The first webinar, “Introduction to Art Therapy” will take place Tuesday, July 26th from 6:30 to 8:30. In it, Dr. Marni Rosen discusses the difference between the use of art in treatment and art therapy. She will teach you the basic principles of art therapy and help you create art through the lens of art therapy. Tune in to explore and experience art making from the art therapy approach. We recommend having pencils (regular and colored,) pens, markers, and oil pastels for this webinar.
In “Introduction to Drama Therapy,” led by Keith Whipple, you will explore the basic tools of drama therapy and identify ways to apply these tools in sessions. In addition, participants will discuss how to apply this knowledge to different populations in an interactive dialogue with Keith. This webinar takes place on August 24th at 6:00.
In our third webinar, “Introduction to Music Therapy,” Rebecca West teaches the basics of music therapy and explains how to apply music in clinical practice. Rebecca also plans to teach participants how to identify when to refer a client for music therapy. This webinar will occur on September 20th at 6:00.
Finally, on October 19th, Dance/Movement therapist Jessica Sittig will lead “Introduction to Dance/Movement Therapy.” Participants will learn the basic techniques and applications of dance/movement therapy and discover how to incorporate them into both clinical work and self-care!
Each webinar costs $30 per person, or $100 for all four (a $20 discount!) Sign up HERE! To learn more, contact Andra Duncan at aduncan@itachicago.org or 847-448-8339.
