Johanna Hayes, BC-DMT

Dance/Movement Therapist

Headshot of Johanna Hayes smiling in front of a white wall

Johanna is a Dance/Movement Therapist and Licensed Professional Counselor. She received her Bachelor’s in Fine Arts from Arizona State University and her Master of Arts in Dance/Movement Therapy & Counseling from Columbia College Chicago. Johanna completed her clinical internship at Jesse Brown VA Medical Center, where she gained experience working with veterans struggling with a variety of mental illnesses including PTSD, depression, anxiety, Bipolar Disorder, Schizophrenia, and substance use. During her time at Jesse Brown, she spent a significant amount of time working with survivors of Military Sexual Trauma. Upon completion of her clinical internship she worked at Timberline Knolls, where she worked with individuals affected by eating disorders, substance use, and complex trauma. Johanna primarily works with individuals experiencing depression, anxiety, PTSD, and individuals with a history of sexual trauma. She operates from a trauma-informed, feminist theory lens in which she fosters the empowerment and creative expression of each individual. Johanna believes in the power of dance and movement in therapy, and hopes to continue helping others find healing through the use of movement.
