Dear Colleagues and Friends of ITA,
It’s hard to believe that Institute for Therapy through the Arts (ITA) is starting year 5 as an independent 501(c)(3). It is a privilege to step into the role of Board Chair during this exciting time of growth. I am so appreciative to Jill Calian and Sarah Wiemeyer for their incredible leadership and service as past Board Chairs. Their tireless dedication through the launch and relocation of ITA is appreciated beyond words and make for very big shoes to fill.
I first became acquainted with the power of creative therapies working in a behavioral health hospital. Those impacted by severe trauma, intellectual disabilities, dementia, and a host of mental health diagnoses were showing positive responses and making a connection in a way that traditional therapy was not able. Then I met Jenni at a networking event. And there starts my relationship with ITA—over 5 years ago.
I am proud of ITA’s success and excited about the breadth of opportunities to come. Among our goals are to grow fundraising and community partnerships as well as to continue to learn, advocate for, and provide leadership in innovative approaches to creative arts therapy.
I look forward to the opportunity to work alongside Jenni and my fellow board members. Not only is Jenni an outstanding leader, ambassador, advocate, and innovator, she has wisely surrounded herself with a leadership team of great caliber.
If you are just learning about ITA, welcome! If you are a current friend and/or supporter—thank you! If you haven’t already, please watch one (or more!) of the videos highlighting the unique and incredible work that ITA provides.
Warmest regards,
Ginny Trainor
