Dr. Marni Rosen Provides Training for Lifeline Theatre Staff Working in the Chicago Public Schools
On October 4, ITA Practice Director Dr. Marni Rosen, conducted a workshop at Chicago’s Lifeline Theatre entitled “Trauma Informed Education for Teaching Artists.” Fifteen teaching artists working in the Chicago Public Schools attended the 2-hour workshop, aimed at providing much-needed information for working with traumatized students.
“I like to call them my front line,” says Dr. Rosen about the teaching artists. “They are in the schools, identifying students with traumatic histories and looking for resources to help them.” The Lifeline team has been providing drama programs in the Chicago Public Schools for students with traumatic backgrounds, including recent immigrants and refugees. Lifeline Theater reached out to ITA to conduct the workshop to help better equip the teaching artists and the challenges they face.
ITA provides a variety of workshops and trainings, either at our office, or at your location. To learn more about ITA’s trainings, contact Dr. Marni Rosen at mrosen@itachicago.org.
