Matthew Kwon is a music therapist who recently came from an internship working with children and adolescents with emotional and behavioral related disorders. During this experience, he utilized a cognitive behavioral/humanistic music therapy approach to facilitate the development of interpersonal skills, coping skills, emotion expression, and emotion regulation in individuals. When working with children and adolescents, Matthew values and facilitates mindfulness practices to better understand the client and to better understand how he can utilize his clients’ strengths and his own strengths to assist in client needs. Matthew is an ambitious and curious individual, always seeking to learn new knowledge to better his music therapy and facilitation skills. Furthermore, he incorporates his kind, playful temperament in his music therapy work to further connect with his clients.
