The Chicago Symphony Orchestra invited ITA’s Director of Community Programs, Jeff Wolfe, and Board Member, Dr. Borna Bonakdarpour, to present at their Soundpost event on November 29th at the Symphony Center. Jeff’s talk centered on the use of musical elements to make neurologic change, provided anecdotes from his own life, and included research outcomes on music therapy from Dr. Elizabeth Stegemoller.
Jeff also provided vignettes of cases that of his own using Neurologic Music Therapy and integrated Creative Arts Therapy approaches. Dr. Bonakdarpour presented on the research he is conducting at Northwestern University and shared outcomes from our Musical Bridges to Memory ™ program. Over 100 people attended the talk. This is the first “Music and Medicine” Sound Post and is also the first to include a board-certified music therapist.
