As a Korean who moved to the U.S. in her early 20s to attend school, Sumin is aware that individuals may experience racial or identity-based stigma and discrimination causing confusion and pain that leaves them feeling that they do not belong anywhere. Sumin supports her clients with community building and healthy identity development as well as building a collaborative and equal therapeutic relationship to support clients in feeling safe to explore their identities, memories, and any difficult feelings.
Throughout her career, Sumin has worked at Chicago Public School, University of Chicago Student Wellness Center, Advocate Children’s Hospital, and Art Institute of Chicago to support Chicago community members’ mental health and community wellbeing. Outside of work, Sumin loves to make beaded jewelry, watching cat videos, and watching Korean and American stand-up comedy shows.
Sumin is currently accepting new clients.
