An Open Letter from ITA’s Executive Director, Jenni Rook
Dear Friends,
I am thrilled to announce the Institute for Therapy through the Arts (ITA) will be moving to 2130 Greenbay Road in Evanston this September. We will occupy the entire 2nd floor of the building as the sole tenant, providing a private space for creative arts therapy. The decision to move was made for a number of reasons, with the primary one being to better serve our clients. It was difficult to find a location that met all our unique needs, but fortunately this building is a perfect fit.
The space will be completely renovated and have therapy rooms that are optimally designed for creative arts therapy, privacy and accessibility. There is a private entrance which includes an ADA compliant elevator, private restrooms and therapy spaces set apart from our reception area. Best of all there is ample parking.
The cost of the move and furnishing of our new space is just over $60,000. Through the generosity of a lead donor, half of this expense has already been contributed. ITA is reaching out to our community for your support in funding the other $30,000. The money raised will be used not only to cover the expense of the physical move but will allow us to completely furnish the new treatment rooms, offices and lobby with items such as a sofa and chairs, an art table, storage cabinets, desks and more.
With the recent water damage to our current office, the expense for this move could increase by almost $10,000. We have been unable to fully assess the damage to our property and therapy supplies but do know already we have lost many drama therapy costumes and props, marketing materials and possibly some drums and computers. We need your help now more than ever.
It is our sincere desire to raise 100% of the money needed for this exciting next step in our development so that we may continue to use all other monies donated for our financial aid program. We need your help to reach this goal. You can make a difference by contributing any amount. All participants in the campaign to fund our new space who donate more than $250 will leave a lasting legacy on our donor wall which will be installed this fall in our new home.
Gifts can be made online at www.itachicago.org/support-ita or mailed to 1702 Sherman Ave., Evanston, IL 60201.
If you have donated goods to contribute such as office furniture, musical instruments or computers or are able to connect ITA with in-kind services such as painting, interior decorating or art installations, please contact me at jrook@itachicago.org.
We are deeply grateful for your support and are looking forward to seeing you at the new offices of ITA this fall.
Sincerely,
Jenni Rook
Executive Director
