The Ted Rubenstein Integrated Arts Therapy Training Program
Dr. Ted Rubenstein, former Clinical Director for the Institute for Therapy through the Arts (ITA), began his career as a volunteer under Marilyn “Toddy” Richman, ITA’s founding director. He received an M.A. in Drama Therapy from Kansas State University and became a Registered Drama Therapist in 2001. He went on to serve as an executive board member for the North American Drama Therapy Association from 2005 to 2009. Dr. Rubenstein was also a loving husband and father, a theater director, and a professor at the Chicago School of Professional Psychology, where he completed his doctorate in Clinical Psychology. His passion for mentoring, teaching, discovering, and sharing his knowledge was contagious. Dr. Rubenstein was passionate about training students and interns. He also strongly believed in the importance of educating other professionals about the field of Creative Arts Therapy as well as offering opportunities for professional development through supervision, consultation, and self-care. It is for those reasons that ITA has chosen to honor Dr. Rubenstein’s legacy naming this program after him.
