Fresh Faces for Fall: ITA Welcomes Three New Clinical Interns!

September 12, 2018 by ITA Staff

Join Us in Saying Hello to David, Amber, and Jessica

Each year, ITA trains a number of music therapy, dance/movement therapy, art therapy, and drama therapy clinical interns. These interns work directly with the clinical staff at ITA for 6 months to a year, becoming an integral part of our team. We are excited to welcome three new interns this year. Keep reading to learn more about these wonderful students!

David McKenzie is currently pursuing his master’s degree in music therapy at Texas Woman’s University in Denton, Texas. In addition to his work at TWU, David is also a trainee for the Bonny Method of Guided Imagery and Music. He has played guitar and bass for several years, and enjoys composing music, bike riding, and learning how to garden. David is excited to be a part of ITA where he hopes to hone his clinical skills and contribute to the team.

Amber is an art therapy intern currently entering her second year at Adler University. In her free time, Amber enjoys baking, painting, and traveling. She is looking forward to learning from and working with the team at ITA.

Jessica is originally from Frankenmuth, Michigan but moved to Kalamazoo, Michigan in 2014 to study Music Therapy at Western Michigan University. While at Western, she studied music therapy, minored in psychology, and worked with children with Autism at a local special education school. In her spare time, she likes to read, run, play piano, visit friends and family, and travel with her husband. She is delighted to be a part of ITA as a music therapy intern.
