Akash is a board-certified and licensed professional music therapist with several years of experience working with children, teens, and adults. His approach blends music therapy with Rogerian client-centered therapy, child-centered play therapy, and relational-cultural therapy to support individuals navigating depression, anxiety, trauma, adjustment disorders, autism spectrum disorder, ADHD, and addictions. Akash brings warmth, patience, and playfulness to his sessions, believing that people heal and grow best when met with empathy, openness, and acceptance.
In his role as Creative Knowledge Center Manager, Akash leads ITA’s professional development programming, including training, supervision, consultation, and the organization’s annual conference. He frequently speaks on anti-oppressive, trauma-informed, and healing-centered practices within the creative arts therapies. His writing has been published in Sociocultural Identities in Music Therapy (2021) and the forthcoming Colonialism and Music Therapy.
Education and Affiliations: Master of Arts in Music Therapy & Counseling from Drexel University, Bachelor of Arts in Music and Psychology from Illinois Wesleyan University
