Freddy is a board-certified art therapist and licensed clinical professional counselor who currently serves as Clinical Director at the Institute for Therapy through the Arts. She brings extensive experience providing art therapy in both community and school-based settings, working with individuals who have experienced trauma, are neurodiverse, or are navigating severe mental illness and substance use challenges.
Freddy’s clinical work centers on empowering clients as the experts of their own lived experiences. She utilizes art as a tool for self-exploration, identity formation, and connection—helping individuals enhance relational understanding across personal, communal, and societal levels.
She holds a Master of Arts in Art Therapy from the School of the Art Institute of Chicago and a BA in Developmental Psychology from DePaul University. Freddy is trained in EMDR and certified in Healing Centered Engagement.
Outside of her clinical work, Freddy is an avid maker and geek culture enthusiast. She enjoys crafting 3D art with found objects, creating cosplay, playing tabletop and video games, and participating in historical reenactment communities. She has also spoken on panels about the intersection of mental health and geek identity at entertainment conventions.
