Going Places: Generosity and Music Carries ITA to New Support Group

August 2, 2018 by ITA Staff

Music Program Set for Take-Off Thanks to Sprungen Family Foundation, Family Service of Lake County/Sunrise Senior Living Partnership

Thanks to the generous donation of the Spungen Family Foundation, and a partnership between Family Service of Lake County and Sunrise Senior Living of Highland Park, Institute for Therapy through the Arts will provide a 6-week program called Melodic Pathways.

This music therapy guided support group will engage residents of Highland Park in playing instruments, singing, and other music therapy interventions to promote connection between residents, their family members, caregivers, and friends. ITA’s Bradley Drozdowski, MTBC (board-certified music therapist), and new music therapy intern David McKenzie will begin leading this group on Saturday, September 8th at 3pm, and will continue every other week except for November 3rd and November 10th. We are very excited to start a new partnership that will enhance the lives of individuals effected by dementia through music.
